Same bank, opposite philosophies. Avios is a specialist currency — short-haul partner awards can clear 3¢, but only if you know the program; Avion is the safe generalist with a dependable chart floor and WestJet and Avios transfers to keep options open. Points hobbyists take the British Airways card; everyone else should take the Avion.
