CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Privilege vs CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite

Two cards, one Standard Score rubric. The CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite scores higher overall at 6.5/10 — but the right pick depends on which components match your spending.

The verdict

Strong

The Privilege earns more per dollar (3x on portal travel, a much wider 2x band covering dining, entertainment and transportation as well as gas and groceries, and 1.25x base versus 1x) and bumps lounge access to six Visa Airport Companion visits a year versus the Visa Infinite's four, plus a $200 annual travel credit — but its $499 fee is nearly four times the Visa Infinite's $139, which CIBC rebates entirely in year one. On our scoring the cheaper Visa Infinite actually comes out ahead for most people; the Privilege only makes sense if you want the top Aventura earn rates and will use the extra lounge visits. Occasional travellers take the Visa Infinite.
