The verdict
StrongBoth earn Avion points against the same redemption chart, and as of August 2026 both offers open identically: 35,000 points on approval, then 20,000 more on $5,000 in six months. The headline gap is all in the anniversary tranche: the Infinite adds 15,000 there for 70,000, the Privilege 45,000 for 100,000. So the welcome bonuses pay the same 55,000 points inside twelve months, and the Privilege's bigger number is a year-two argument, not a first-year one. What the extra $279 of fee does buy from day one is a better base rate (1.25x on everything, against the Infinite's 1.25x on travel and 1x on the rest), plus lounge access and the premium redemption schedule. That base-rate edge is 25% more on non-travel spend, which is real but modest in absolute terms: on $24,000 of ordinary spend it is worth roughly $96 a year at our 1.6¢ mark, against $279 of extra fee. The Privilege earns its keep on the lounge access, the premium chart and the year-two points, and only if you will still be holding it when they land; otherwise the standard Infinite captures the same first-year bonus at 30% of the fee.
