TD Aeroplan Visa Platinum Card vs TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite

Two cards, one Standard Score rubric. The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite scores higher overall at 7.2/10 — but the right pick depends on which components match your spending.

The verdict

Strong

The Visa Infinite is the stronger card by a wide margin — up to 40,000 Aeroplan points versus 20,000, 1.5x on gas, groceries, and Air Canada versus 1x, and a free checked bag that alone can clear its $139 fee (rebated the first year). The Platinum's pitch is only its lower ongoing fee ($89) once the rebates lapse. Unless you barely fly Air Canada, start on the Infinite; the Platinum suits occasional flyers who want to keep year-two costs down.
