Blue Rewards points value: what AIR MILES became.
BMO Blue Rewards points are worth about 0.67¢ each: 1,500 points = $10 in store or on eGift cards. Since June 1, 2026 every old AIR MILE is 16 of them, so a Mile is now worth about 10.7¢. Here’s what your balance is worth, and the one rule that can wipe it out.

What your old AIR MILES are worth
BMO converted every AIR MILES balance on June 1, 2026, at 16 Blue Points per Mile, and says no member lost value in the switch. Multiply your last Mile balance by 16 to check what should be in your account now; if it doesn’t match, raise it with Blue Rewards.
| AIR MILES balance | Blue Points now | Value at 0.67¢ |
|---|---|---|
| 95 Miles | 1,520 | $10 |
| 500 Miles | 8,000 | $54 |
| 1,000 Miles | 16,000 | $107 |
| 2,500 Miles | 40,000 | $268 |
| 5,000 Miles | 80,000 | $536 |
Value by redemption type
The one rate BMO publishes is 1,500 points = $10 in store at participating partners and on eGift cards from brands like Amazon and Apple. Travel booked through Blue Rewards Travel can be paid with any number of points, and other rewards run on their own terms, so price those against the in-store rate before you redeem.
| Redemption | Realistic value per point |
|---|---|
| In store at participating partners, or eGift cards (1,500 points = $10) | 0.67¢ |
| Blue Rewards Travel, powered by Expedia (any amount toward a booking, not cruises) | BMO doesn't publish a fixed rate; compare against the in-store rate |
| Merchandise, events and other rewards | Separate terms and rates; check before redeeming |
How much are 20,000 to 250,000 points worth?
| Blue Points balance | Value (1,500 points = $10) |
|---|---|
| 20,000 | $134 |
| 50,000 | $335 |
| 100,000 | $670 |
| 150,000 | $1,005 |
| 250,000 | $1,675 |
Do Blue Rewards points expire?
Not on a calendar date, but they don’t survive neglect. If an account goes 24 months without earning, redeeming or transferring a single point, Blue Rewards treats it as dormant and removes every point in it. It says it warns members by email about 60 days before that happens.
Keeping a balance alive is cheap: scan your Blue Rewards card once at a partner, redeem anything, or hold a Blue Rewards credit card you use, since card purchases post points every month.
The cards that earn Blue Rewards points
BMO issues four Blue Rewards Mastercards, two personal and two business. Each earns its top rate at Blue Rewards partners and on Blue Rewards Travel (up to $15,000 a year on the no-fee cards and $25,000 on the World Elites), a lower boost on everyday categories, and a base rate on everything else. We rank the personal cards in best Blue Rewards credit cards; the business cards also appear in our business card ranking.

Frequently asked questions
How much are Blue Rewards points worth?
About 0.67¢ each. BMO's published rate is 1,500 Blue Points = $10 when you redeem in store at a participating partner or for an eGift card. There's no award chart and there are no transfer partners. Travel and other rewards run on their own rates, which BMO doesn't publish on its card pages, so the in-store rate is the benchmark to price them against.
How much is an AIR MILE worth now?
About 10.7¢. On June 1, 2026, every AIR MILES Mile became 16 Blue Points, and 16 Blue Points are worth about 10.7¢ at 1,500 points = $10. A balance of 1,000 Miles became 16,000 points, worth about $107.
Do Blue Rewards points expire?
Not on a date, but an inactive account loses them. If no points are earned, redeemed or transferred for 24 months, the account goes dormant and every point in it is removed. Blue Rewards says it emails about 60 days beforehand, and earning a single point at a partner resets the clock.
Is Blue Rewards the same as AIR MILES?
It replaced it. BMO, which owned AIR MILES, retired the program and moved every member to Blue Rewards on June 1 and 2, 2026, converting balances automatically at 16 Blue Points per Mile.
Which credit cards earn Blue Rewards points?
Four BMO Mastercards: the no-fee BMO Blue Rewards Mastercard, the BMO Blue Rewards World Elite Mastercard, and business versions of each. All earn their top rate at Blue Rewards partners and on Blue Rewards Travel.
