Members paid a median of 40,800 points. Air Canada and its select partners, such as United, Emirates and Etihad, price by demand, so your dates may cost more than the published floor.

At our Index mark, 32,500 points is worth about $618. To decide between points and cash, value the points price aircanada.com actually quotes for your dates the same way, add the reward’s taxes and fees, and compare the total with the cash fare.

From Air Canada’s published Flight Reward Chart (version 2026-08), per passenger, before taxes, fees and any partner booking fee. It isn’t a live quote: the price aircanada.com shows for your dates is the one that counts. Dollar values at our 1.9¢ Index mark.

How Aeroplan prices a flight

Zones. Aeroplan splits the world into four zones. North America runs from Alaska to Panama and includes Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean. Atlantic covers Europe, Africa, the Middle East and South Asia, India included. Pacific covers East and Southeast Asia and Oceania. South America is the fourth.

Distance. Within each pair of zones, the price steps up in distance bands, measured on the miles actually flown. The calculator uses the nonstop distance, so a connection adds miles and can push a trip into the next band. It flags trips that are close to an edge.

Who flies the plane. Partners outside Air Canada’s select group (Lufthansa, SWISS, ANA, Austrian and most of Star Alliance) follow the fixed chart whenever a reward seat is available, plus a partner booking fee. Air Canada’s own flights, and those of a few select partners such as United, Emirates and Etihad, are priced by demand: the chart only says where prices start and, for trips to or from North America, what members paid at the median.

Cabins. The chart prices premium economy only on Air Canada and select partners, and only on trips to or from North America. It has no first class within North America.

To turn a points price into a judgment, compare it with the cash fare. Our Aeroplan points value guide marks a point at 1.9¢, and the sweet spots are where the chart pays far more. Short on points? Amex Membership Rewards transfer to Aeroplan 1:1, and the best Aeroplan credit cards earn them directly. And if the balance has sat untouched for a while, run it through the expiry checker before November 30.

Frequently asked questions

How many Aeroplan points do you need to fly to Europe?

From Toronto or Montréal, London, Paris, Dublin and Lisbon are all under 4,000 miles: 32,500 points one-way in economy and 60,000 in business on partner airlines, with Air Canada's own flights starting at the same figures. Farther trips, like Toronto to Rome (4,403 miles) or Vancouver to London (4,709 miles), move to the 4,001 to 6,000 mile band: 42,500 in economy and 75,000 in business.

How many Aeroplan points do you need to fly to Japan or Asia?

Vancouver to Tokyo (4,662 miles) is in the cheapest North America to Pacific band: 32,500 points one-way in economy and 55,000 in business on partners. From Toronto, Tokyo is in the next band, and Hong Kong or Singapore the one after that, where partner business costs 102,500 points.

How many Aeroplan points does a flight within Canada cost?

Partner and Air Canada prices start at 6,000 points one-way for short hops like Toronto to Montréal and 12,500 for Toronto to Vancouver. Air Canada's flights are dynamically priced, though, and the median members actually paid was 13,000 and 17,000 points respectively, so expect to pay more than the floor on busy dates.

How many points to fly to Mexico, the Caribbean or Hawaii?

They're all in Aeroplan's North America zone, so they price like domestic flights by distance. Toronto to Cancún is 1,618 miles: 12,500 points one-way in economy on other partners, and from 12,500 on Air Canada and its select partners. Vancouver to Honolulu falls in the same distance band; Toronto to Honolulu is in the top North America band.

Why does aircanada.com show more points than this?

Air Canada and its select partners (United, Emirates, Etihad and a few regional airlines) price rewards by demand. The chart publishes only the floor and, for trips to or from North America, the median members paid. On busy dates the price can be well above both. Partner flights follow the fixed chart, but only when a reward seat is available.

Are these prices one-way or round trip?

One-way, per passenger. Aeroplan prices every flight as a one-way reward, so a round trip is two of them. Taxes, fees and a partner booking fee are extra.

Did the Aeroplan chart change in 2026?

Yes. Air Canada changed the Flight Reward Chart for rewards booked or reissued from June 1, 2026, with a mix of increases and decreases. The biggest moves were on partner business and first class over long distances: Toronto to Hong Kong in partner business went from 87,500 to 102,500 points.

Prices are from Air Canada’s Flight Reward Chart (version 2026-08, for rewards booked from June 1, 2026), checked 2026-10-06. Air Canada calls every figure on it an estimate for information only; seats are subject to availability and prices vary with the itinerary and with demand. Zone boundaries follow Prince of Travel’s and Milesopedia’s descriptions of Aeroplan’s map. Distances are great-circle miles between airports. Dollar values use The Points Standard Index mark of 1.9¢ per point.
